A few days ago I was catching up with a friend over lunch at PF Chang’s. As usual, the food was delicious. Lettuce wraps WILL be in heaven, by the way.  After we finished eating and visiting, we paid and received our parting fortune cookies.  My friend cracked hers open and read it aloud and then I opened mine: empty.

I’m not usually a superstitious person or one to read too much into things, but for some reason this little cookie event was etched in my mind, especially in lieu of 2012.  Just the other night my husband and I sat down and set some business goals, personal goals and life goals and again, my mind was on the cookie!  The cookie had me cornered and all I could do was give in.  So I did.  I allowed my mind to be consumed by, yes, a cookie.  In all seriousness though, the cookie mind game did, in fact, show me something far better than a fortune.  It showed me that all I really want to do in 2012 is: be filled.

Filled with love, knowledge, compassion, humility, laughter, inspiration, generosity, purpose, creativity and hope–hope that at the end of 2012 I will look bak on this year with thankfulness knowing that I was filled.  No fortunes needed for this girl, 2012!
