I’m so excited to write my first blog post, ever! In that vein, I thought it would be fun to introduce myself to you by using the word B.L.O.G.  Here we go!

B. is for Bonnie– or Ms. Bonnie as my client’s like to call me.  I’m a board certified music therapist of 7 years and I own and operate my music therapy practice in Willoughby, OH.  I offer private services to children with special needs and I provide contract services to Lake Health and several community-based agencies. My passion is to empower and enrich people through music therapy. My interest in music started at a very young age.  I welcome you to read more about it in My Musical Bio.

L.is for Love– I love all aspects of music, which is why I became a music therapist. Music therapy allows me to create, improvise, dance, sing, integrate technology, song write, teach, replicate, support and inspire using an infinite combination of musical notes. All I can say is, I love my job and I’m extremely passionate about helping my clients achieve success. Outside of my job, the most important love of my life is my best friend and husband, Dirk. Add to that my love for family, sports, the arts, coffee, the beach…well, I think you get the idea…my list of loves could take up an entire year of blog posts (hmmm…). 😉

O. is for Open- By this I mean, “open for business”! I’m so excited to share my experiences as a therapist and musician and hope that this blog will not only be a place where I can share resources, tips, songs and nuggets of thoughts, but a place where I can grow and learn from YOU! Over the past year, I have been inspired by so many music therapists, business women and client families to start blogging.  I hope that starting this blog will make me a better therapist and person.

G. is for Garfoose- I would be remise if I didn’t introduce you to the mascot of my business from the get go! So, WELCOME from the Garfoose!  When I decided to open my private practice in 2009, my husband, the artistic genius that he is, created this magically empowered, indestructible, wifi-enabled, musically gifted, half giraffe-half moose.  With it, he wrote an amazing rhyming story of a little boy with Autism who learns that being different is actually what makes him so special.  More on that as we begin this blogging journey together. 🙂

Thanks for coming to the Groovy Garfoose! Please come back often or subscribe to my feed. I hope to get to know you in the comments!
