It is officially October and in Ohio we celebrate Music Therapy this month! I’m particularly proud of the Buckeye state this year because we have so much to offer prospective clients, organizations and music therapy students! Here’s just a sampling of what Ohio has to offer:
Music therapy associations
- Association of Ohio Music Therapists (which features a brand NEW site!)
Ohio colleges offering music therapy
- Baldwin Wallace College
- Ohio University (My alma mater!)
- The University of Dayton
- The College of Wooster
Ohio funding sources for music therapy services

- Electronic Classrooms of Tomorrow
- Your County Family Resource Services
- Your County Board of MRDD
Other great Ohio Organizations

- The Lake Metroparks (Adapted programming for people with special needs)
- Camp Sue (Camp for kids/teens with special needs)
- Alzheimer’s Association of Ohio

And to top it all off, the American Music Therapy Association statistical profile demonstrates that Ohio boasts over 200 music therapists and is currently ranked 4th in the U.S. for number of music therapists per capita! Ohio certainly lives up to it’s nickname, “the heartbeat of it all”! Gooo Music Therapy and Gooo Ohio!
