How Group Music Therapy Works

Our music therapists provide weekly, bi-weekly or monthly 45-60 minute group sessions jam-packed with creative and age-appropriate music interventions that can reduce isolation, foster memory sharing and socialization, engage fine and gross motor skills and much more with every participant – regardless of ability. Group singing, instrument playing with a pentatonic xylophone in which there are no wrong notes, songwriting using familiar tunes letting everyone participate in a personalized way, on the spot tempo adjustments so all participants can move to the music no matter their ability are just some of the tools our music therapists are trained to use to build rapport, motivate and engage everyone in music therapy groups.
