We are proud to offer one of the only Creative Arts Camps for special needs teens and adults of all ages and abilities in Northeast Ohio. It’s important to our team to provide a creative outlet for this age group and population as they transition into young adulthood.
Staff members and campers alike had the ability to maintain continuity of services virtually for the Groovy Garfoose camp these past two years. We are grateful for our virtual experiences and are excited to announce that Groovy Garfoose camp will be back IN-PERSON! Since it’s been some time since having in-person camp, let’s take a trip down memory lane to see what will be similar and different compared to years past!
Music, Dance, AND Art!
Camp is the best of both worlds in the sense that Group members have the opportunity to be a part of a larger group experience, while also rotating stations in smaller, more individualized group settings. To start camp, the whole group will come together to sing the camp theme song and talk through the schedule for the day. Once that is complete, everyone splits into their smaller designated groups to experience socialization and artistic exploration in music, dance, and art!
In music, individuals can expect to write original songs, learn and create simple/complex beats, and to play unique musical games based on the theme of camp!
In art, campers will explore their creativity with various hands-on art activities. In the past, individuals had the opportunity to create musicial projects, such as shakers, to use in music and dance. Plus, you have the ability to take all your art creations home!!
In dance, campers will create their own choreography, learn sign language to music, and learn new dance techniques to fit the style of the theme!
